WALKING BACKWARDS

Take your first steps like a man,
into worlds that just don't care.
Write the lamers off just as soon as you can,
then let feet be guided to avoid a scare.

Oh I've taken a view of walls.
I've taken a path of streets.
I've taken up a life of shops:
the walls where path streets meet.

Where I might get you a diamond ring.
Oh tender memories in a jewelry box.
If I knew for sure that my heart's for you,
I could decide on some things and buy the rock.

I'd buy candles and serenades.
I'd buy-off-the Molotov
cocktails and crazy fools but—
we believe in lands of love. *

*The last line is basically swiped from New Order’s “The Perfect Kiss” where it’s sung

“we believe in a land of love.”
